Ralf Gindera was born in Oberhausen, Germany, on July 7, 1976. He received the Dipl.-Ing. in electrical engineering at the Department of Optoelectronics from the University Duisburg-Essen, Germany, in 2003. In his thesis he worked on the development of an optical 1.3µm DFB-GRINSCH laser with monolithic integrated 40Gb/s-Electroabsorption modulator. Currently he is a member of the Department of Optoelectronics at the University Duisburg-Essen, Germany. His main research interests include optical communication devices and systems. Since June 2007 he has been working for Agilent Technologies, Böblingen.
