University of Duisburg-Essen
Center for Semiconductor Technology and Optoelectronics (ZHO)
The Center for Semiconductor Technology and Optoelectronics (ZHO, LT building) is located in UDE's University Campus, which is close (1.5 km) to the city centre of Duisburg, some 25 km from Düsseldorf International Airport. Thanks Duisburg Port, which is the largest inland port in Europe, the area has good road and railway connections to the rest of Germany.
Look at the maps for a clear view of our whereabouts. Duisburg is easily accessible from the German road and rail network, and via air:
- by air: Düsseldorf International Airport is located 25 km away and offers frequent direct flights to all major cities in Europe, the US and Asia/Pacific. Connections to Duisburg main station are via train and they take less than 10 minutes. A taxi will cost approx. 40-50 €.
- by train: InterCity Rail services reach Duisburg throughout the day, and there are a number of local services. There are also cross-country rail connections via Cologne, Hannover, and Frankfurt. From Duisburg main station take the tram 901 with direction to Mülheim and get off at Zoo/Uni or take a taxi (approx 8 €).
- by road: Duisburg is reached by road from the A3 if coming from North or South, or from the A40 if coming from West or East. Both of these roads are dual-carriageway and are well connected to the German motorway network. Exit at "Duisburg-Kaiserberg", turn left and follow "Carl-Benz-Str." direction "Zoo/Universität".
